EWM Global was proud to be Lead Sponsor for SuperReturn’s first-ever virtual CFO/COO forum. With contributions to the Tech Showcase, along with moderation responsibilities for Incentive Alignment in a Post-Covid World panel, we were honored to “sit” alongside some of Europe’s most successful private equity firms.
Our Chief Marketing Officer, Tom Pittman kicked off the Forum with a panel on Successfully Navigating the Pandemic: Lessons Learned from CFOs/COOs. We discussed what worked and what didn’t when dealing with the crisis, what a good business continuity plan looks like, what fund managers are doing now that they weren’t doing pre-crisis, and whether these changes are here to stay. Thank you to all participating panelists, Kevin Early, European CFO of Ares Management, Mike Dutton, Senior Adviser of Capital Group Private Markets, Rob Bailey, Partner & COO of Pantheon, and Shaun Collins, CFO, Europe and Asia of Apollo Global Management.
On day 2, Regional Director, Simon Shipgood, led a discussion on Managing Incentive Alignments in a Post COVID World. This discussion covered how to maximize the value of carried interest and co-investment programs in a turbulent market, how to create a transparent incentive program to retain and attract top talent in the industry, making sure your deal teams know and understand what their incentives are, as well as how to establish secure environments built on secure data, reducing key person risk, and eliminating calculation errors, whilst balancing transparency and confidentiality. Thank you to the participating panelists, Salvatore Ruocco, Finance Director of Permira Debt Managers, Joshua Cherry-Seto, CFO & CCO of Blue Wolf Capital Partners, and Paul Cunningham, CFO and IPEV Chair, of Helios Investment Partners.
In the Tech Showcase, Regional Director, Rob Hagmeier, highlighted our secure, cloud- based, platform that has digitally transformed our clients’ carried interest, co-investment plan and executive compensation experience for participants and client admins.
With all the challenges that 2020 has posed, the event hosts did a fantastic job pulling off a successful event, continuing their tradition of delivering high quality and information-packed conferences year after year.
